Cavalier and Calibra Turbo - Engine
Upgrades Con Rods
Connecting rods (con-rods) are what connect your crankshaft to your
pistons. When under extreme load the standard con-rods can put
on an amazing amount of strain and eventually snap. In order
to prevent this happening we advise going for steel con-rods.
These steel con-rods will be able to handle power to above 400+BHP
on these vehicles. All con-rods come complete with up-rated
bolts - £725 (for 4 rods)
Magnecor Ignition Leads
Are the leading brand in all engines. They offer 3 model
types: 7mm, 8mm and the 8.5mm racing leads. Magnecor leads come
with a 10 year limited warranty. They are undoubtedly the best
under pressure.
7mm set of 5 - £99
8mm set of 5 - £104.95
KV85 (8.5mm) set of 5 - £109.95
Turbochargers
The KKK K16 Turbochargers have a rough life-span of 90,000 miles.
When the performance is raised, the turbocharger is working a lot
harder than usual and can reduce the overall life of the turbo.
We can offer anything from a reconditioned turbo to a race prepared
turbo which will enable you to run higher boost without the danger
of the turbo not being able to keep up.
*Standard Reconditioned unit - £599*
Hybrid Turbo which includes cut-back blades and
360 degree thrust bearing - £799 Race Prepared Turbo with K26 Compressor wheel -
£1249
*We also offer repairing of wastegate and oil seals - POA
Low Compression
Pistons
When higher boost levels start to become more of a demand we need
to start reducing the compression ration inside the cylinder head.
The initial stage is to up-rate the cylinder head gasket with a 1.9mm
kevlar gasket. This alone will decrease compression. - £84.95
The next step is to intoduce lower compression pistons which
will enable higher boost levels to be run safely. Our pistons
are a forged piston shaped to the optimum level to meet the demand
of the extra induction. - £549
Other Performance Service
To enable more boost to be run efficiently we can specially re-design
the cylinder head to amplify all ports including exhaust and
inlet. We also match the inlet manifold to ensure that a free flowing
entry is made - £495 (exchange)
For those who are after serious power, the crankshaft will have to
be replaced with a complete steel assembly. This is only necessary
for people who are after around 380 - 400BHP- £999
When power gets above a certain level, oil pick up is a prime concern.
The standard engine block cannot cope with this. We have our
own specially designed engine. We modify the engine so that
oil is sprayed onto the bottom of the pistons enabling them to be
cooled and to prevent meltdown. - £1999 |
