These cars were first made in 1992 by Vauxhall having the same engine
(C20 LET) but different body shells. Vauxhall continued the Cavalier
Turbo up until the end of the Cavalier line in 1995. The Calibra Turbo
was continued on until 1997 where it too was replaced by a new vauxhall
vehicle. These cars both had 2.0 16v DOHC engines of which the cylinder
heads were designed by Cosworth and the later heads being produced
by Cosworth (94 onwards). They were produced both pushing out a figure
of 204BHP and achieving a top speed of over 150mph and 0-60mph time
of <6.5 seconds. All Cavalier and Calibra Turbo's were fitted with
a 4wd hydraulic transfer system which could detect the amount of grip
the tyres had on the road and could automatically adjust the front/rear
power split whilst driving. Being a Cavalier Turbo owner I am somewhat
biased towards these two vehicles. I cannot stress my enjoyment it
gives me to drive and look after this vehicle as I believe it was
one of vauxhall's best vehicles ever produced.
There is however area's that can be improved upon....
